So here’s a new year, a possibly new diet or a simple detox from the holidays. I’m not a fan of diets, but I do like to really cut back in January to counteract everything I put into my mouth over the holidays.

I call this the detox green smoothie because it has everything you need to jump start your nutrition and get you back on track to better eating.

Every ingredient in this smoothie plays a part in the overall nutrition. Here’s the breakdown:

Banana: This give the smoothie creaminess as well as B vitamins, potassium, magnesium and improve digestion

Almond butter: Not only does this give the smoothie a lovely nutty flavor, you also benefit from the added protein, fiber, good fats, calcium and helps stabilize blood sugar

Frozen mango: Chills the smoothie, adds natural sweetness, helps boost metabolism, improves digestion, clears the skin, as well as Vitamin C and betacarotene.

Strawberries: Loaded with antioxidants, vitamins and help control blood sugar.

Fresh Spinach:  So many vitamins (to many to list) protein (yes), and is the best all round vegetable for detox.

Almond Milk: A great dairy replacement and provides fiber and lactose free so it’s easier to digest.

Chia Seeds: As well as added protein, they have fiber to help you feel fuller longer.

Doesn’t all that info want you to make this smoothie everyday? You can add optional additions like match green tea powder, protein or collagen powder or any additional fruit or veggies that you love.
